What Is An LED Non Corrosive?
LED non corrosives (sometimes called anti corrosives or vapour proof fittings) are a low energy alternative to a fluorescent non corrosive, offering an excellent lumen output with the money saving benefits of LED. They are similar to an LED batten, but are protected with a polycarbonate cover to make them waterproof.
Where Can They Be Used?
These fittings are ideal for use in warehouses, garages, factories, car parks, workshops and numerous other industrial areas, both indoors and outdoors.
Are They Waterproof?
Yes. The come with a polycarbonate cover and clips, making them waterproof (IP65). This mean that they are suitable for both indoor and outdoor use.
What Sizes Are Available?
Numerous sizes are available, the most popular ones being the 4 foot, 5 foot and 6 foot versions. Many of these are available in both single and twin versions (where there will be 1 or 2 boards inside the fitting depending on how bright the fitting needs to be).
Are There Any Add-Ons?
These LED non corrosives can be used with a PIR sensor, which will switch the light fitting off when there is no movement detected in range, saving even more energy as they will not be switched on when they are not needed. These are not fitted as a standard, so please check cost and availability first.
Caring For The Fitting
Unlike the fluorescent, the LED versions do not require tube changes, saving both time and money. Very little maintenance is required once the fitting has been installed. An occasional wiping down of the polycarbonate cover may be beneficial.
