The Fenix HL45R is a versatile rechargeable head torch designed for professional work, industrial maintenance and demanding outdoor use. It combines a 1000-lumen focusable white beam reaching up to 220 metres with a powerful four-mode red light, gesture control and the flexibility to use either its included rechargeable battery pack or three readily available AAA batteries.

Adjustable Spotlight And Floodlight
The rotatable focusing ring allows the white beam to be adjusted continuously between a concentrated spotlight and a wide floodlight. The spotlight provides the greatest reach for route finding, inspections and identifying hazards further away, while the flood setting spreads the available light across a broader area for close work and general movement.
This adjustable system removes the need to choose between two fixed beams. The user can narrow or widen the light to suit the task, whether working on machinery directly ahead, walking across uneven ground or checking a distant structure or landmark.
Powerful And Practical Red Light
The separate red-light group offers considerably more versatility than the single low-output red mode found on many head torches. Its 130-lumen high setting reaches up to 27 metres, providing genuinely useful visibility for outdoor work, observation and navigation when a white beam would cause unnecessary glare or disturbance.
Medium and low provide gentler illumination for reading, checking equipment and preserving night-adjusted vision. A flashing red setting can serve as a visible location marker or help attract attention when required.
Gesture Control For Hands-Free Switching
When gesture control is enabled, waving a hand within approximately 10cm of the front sensors temporarily switches the selected light off. A second wave restores the previous colour and brightness, allowing the user to control the light with dirty hands, gloves or while holding equipment.
The gesture sensor controls only the on and off function; it does not change the lighting group or brightness. It can be disabled when working in confined areas where tools, machinery or other nearby objects could pass in front of the sensor unintentionally.
Switching the light off by gesture leaves it in standby so that it remains ready to detect the next movement. The rotary selector should therefore be returned to the Off position during storage or longer periods of non-use to prevent unnecessary battery drain.
Fast And Deliberate Controls
The rotary selector provides clearly defined Off, White and Red positions, allowing the required lighting group to be selected without cycling through unwanted modes. Its Off position also acts as a physical lockout to prevent accidental activation during transport.
A central electronic button changes the brightness within the selected group and can switch the active light on or off without moving the rotary control. Output memory recalls the previously selected brightness in each lighting mode, making it quicker to return to a preferred working level.
Rechargeable Battery With AAA Backup
The HL45R is supplied with a removable Fenix ARB-LP1900 1900mAh rechargeable battery pack. It charges inside the head torch through the USB-C port, with a full charge taking approximately three hours. Four indicator lights show the approximate remaining charge and display charging progress.
If the rechargeable battery is depleted or access to charging is limited, it can be removed and replaced with three AAA alkaline or Ni-MH batteries. This dual-power design is valuable for extended work, travel and emergency use because compatible replacement batteries are widely available.
The battery indicator and certain power-management functions are designed for the supplied rechargeable battery pack and may operate differently when AAA batteries are fitted.
Comfortable And Adjustable
The broad headband provides a secure fit while distributing the 133g working weight comfortably. Reflective detailing helps improve the wearer’s visibility, and the tilting lamp body allows the beam to be aimed towards the ground, a nearby task or further ahead without repositioning the complete headband.
Built For Work And Poor Weather
A high-quality aluminium-alloy front housing improves durability and helps dissipate heat during prolonged high-output use. IP66 protection makes the HL45R dustproof and able to withstand heavy rain and powerful water jets, while one-metre impact resistance provides additional protection against knocks and accidental drops.
A low-voltage warning automatically reduces the available output as the battery becomes depleted and signals when it is time to recharge or replace the power source.
