The Core range remains a proven choice while stock is available. For a new purchase, we recommend comparing the latest 2025 P Series and 2026 H/HF Series first, as these current-generation models will form the main ranges going forward.
The recommendations prioritise practical mid-range choices, followed by top-spec products where the extra performance has a clear purpose.
Replacing A Core Torch
P5R, P6R and P7R 2025 are the natural current alternatives to the equivalent rechargeable Core torches.
Replacing A Core Head Torch
The new H range provides direct successors to the older H Core models, while the HF range offers a closer-fitting alternative.
These are buying recommendations rather than a list of the brightest products. Open a linked product to check the complete mode table and supplied accessories.
P7R 2025 is the model to start with for a new purchase. It increases maximum output to 2000 lumens while retaining IP68 protection and adds the newer Mode Select Ring.
P6R 2025 is the current alternative to P6R Core. It provides 1200 lumens and IP68 protection in a more compact format than P7R.
P5R 2025 replaces P5R Core as the compact rechargeable choice, with 750 lumens, IP68 protection and disposable-battery backup.
H7R 2026 is the direct current successor for most H7R Core users, with 1200 lumens and a familiar balanced head-torch format.
H9R is the more powerful successor to H7R Core. Choose it when 2000 lumens and adaptive beam control & optional rear red light justify moving one step above the closest like-for-like replacement.
HF7R 2026 replaces HF8R Core in the new streamlined range, providing 1200 lumens and adaptive beam technology in a closer-fitting format.
Core products remain capable while available, but customers making a new purchase should compare the current ranges first. The torch suggestions below follow the equivalent P Series model positions; the head-torch mappings follow Ledlenser’s official H/HF predecessor guide.
| Older Core Model | Current P Series | Why Compare It |
|---|---|---|
| P5R Core | P5R 2025 | Compact rechargeable replacement with more output, IP68 protection and disposable-battery backup. |
| P6R Core | P6R 2025 | Current mid-size alternative with 1200 lumens and IP68 protection. |
| P7R Core | P7R 2025 | Current replacement and Right Light’s bestselling all-round recommendation. |
Our Recommendation: Start with P7R 2025 for the strongest overall balance. Choose P6R to reduce size and cost, or P5R when compact carrying matters most.
| Older Core Model | Current H/HF Model | Replacement Guidance |
|---|---|---|
| H5R Core | H5R 2026 | Closest current H Series replacement. |
| H7R Core | H7R 2026 | Closest like-for-like replacement for general use. |
| H7R Core | H9R 2026 | Higher-performance successor with 2000 lumens and adaptive beam control. |
| H15R Core | H15R 2026 | Current high-output H Series replacement. |
| H19R Core | H19R 2026 | Current dual-beam flagship replacement. |
| HF4R Core | HF4R 2026 | Current compact rechargeable HF replacement. |
| HF6R Core | HF6R 2026 | Current mid-range adaptive-beam HF replacement. |
| HF8R Core | HF7R 2026 | Current streamlined replacement with 1200 lumens. |
| HF8R Core RGB | HF7R RGB 2026 | Current RGB fishing and outdoor replacement. |
H7R Core Owners: H7R 2026 is the closest replacement. Choose H9R 2026 instead when the adaptive beam and additional output will make a worthwhile difference.
Use these points to decide which specifications are genuinely worth paying for.
The older Core models are not suddenly unsuitable. They can still offer good value where their output, runtime and controls match the job, particularly while reduced stock remains available.
For a new purchase, the 2025 P Series and 2026 H/HF Series are the better starting point because they are Ledlenser’s current-generation ranges.
Choose H7R for the closest replacement. Move to H9R for a more substantial upgrade with adaptive beam technology and additional output.
Current H models retain a conventional balanced head-torch format. HF models sit closer to the head and suit users who prefer a more streamlined design.

| Model | Maximum Output | Maximum Beam | Runtime Range | Protection | Best For |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| P7R | 2000 lm | 320 m | 2.5–80 h | IP68 | Current P7R Core replacement |
| P6R | 1200 lm | 320 m | 2.5–65 h | IP68 | Current P6R Core replacement |
| P5R | 750 lm | 280 m | 1–20 h | IP68 | Current P5R Core replacement |
| H7R | 1200 lm | 350 m | 4–120 h | IP67 | Closest H7R Core replacement |
| H9R | 2000 lm | 250 m | 3–100 h | IP67 | H7R Core performance upgrade |
| H19R | 3800 lm | 320 m | 4–220 h | IP67 | Current H19R Core replacement |
| HF7R | 1200 lm | 210 m | 3–60 h | IP67 | Current HF8R Core replacement |
How To Use This Table: Start with the “Best For” column, then eliminate products that are too large, lack the required protection or cannot provide enough runtime at their normal working output.
Core is a previous-generation range and availability is expected to reduce over time. The products remain capable while stocked, but we recommend comparing the current P and H/HF ranges before making a new purchase.
P7R 2025 is the natural current replacement and our bestselling all-round recommendation. P6R 2025 is the smaller alternative when easier carrying matters more than maximum output.
H7R 2026 is the closest current replacement. The official predecessor guide also positions H9R 2026 as the higher-performance successor for users who want adaptive beam control and 2000 lumens.
HF7R 2026 is the listed current replacement. It provides a streamlined fit, 1200 lumens and adaptive beam technology.
Eligible Ledlenser products carry a standard two-year warranty. Register the product online within the stated period after purchase to extend eligible cover to seven years. Check the individual product page because exclusions can apply.
Usually not. Maximum output is often a short boost mode. Beam shape, useful mid-level runtime, size, weight and controls have more influence on day-to-day usefulness than the largest lumen figure.
Flood light spreads illumination across nearby work, while a spot beam concentrates it for distance. Adjustable-focus torches can provide both; inspection lights and lanterns normally prioritise wider, more even coverage.
Right Light can compare an available Core model directly with its current P or H/HF replacement, so you can decide whether the newer features justify the difference.
Maximum output, beam distance and runtime are manufacturer figures and may vary for technical reasons. Boost is normally a short-duration maximum-output mode. Seven-year warranty requires eligible product registration within the stated period.
