The Luminus SST40 spotlight provides a concentrated beam for viewing routes, locating landmarks and identifying detail further ahead. Turbo delivers the full 1200-lumen output when maximum visibility is required, while four lower settings allow brightness and battery consumption to be matched to the task.
Medium and low provide useful working outputs for regular movement and inspection, while the 50-lumen eco setting extends run time to 40 hours. The lamp can be tilted in its holder, allowing the beam to be aimed towards the hands for close work or projected forward for navigation.
A Red Beam That Is More Than An Afterthought
Many head torches provide only a faint red setting for close-range use. The ShadowMaster instead uses a dedicated Cree XP-E2 red LED with four levels and a maximum output of 150 lumens. At full power, the red floodlight reaches up to 30 metres and can illuminate a meaningful working area without switching to white light.
The 5-lumen low setting helps preserve night-adjusted vision when reading maps, checking equipment or moving quietly around a campsite. Medium and high provide greater visibility for fieldwork, angling and wildlife observation, while turbo gives the user a much stronger red beam when the lowest settings are insufficient.
Independent Controls For Faster Operation
Separate switches control the white spotlight and red floodlight. This allows either beam to be selected directly without cycling through the other colour first, making the controls easier to use when conditions change quickly or when maintaining night vision is important.
An electronic lockout helps prevent accidental activation while the lamp is stored in a bag or equipment case. A four-stage battery indicator between the switches provides a quick check of the remaining charge before setting out.
Replaceable Battery And USB-C Charging
The supplied Fenix ARB-L18-3400 is a removable 3400mAh 18650 rechargeable battery. It charges inside the head torch through the protected USB-C port, while the replaceable design allows a compatible charged spare to be carried for longer nights or extended work away from a power source.
The HM65R ShadowMaster can also use two CR123A lithium batteries when rechargeable power is unavailable. These are a useful emergency alternative, but they are non-rechargeable and must never be charged inside the head torch.

The body is made from high-strength magnesium alloy, helping reduce weight while providing efficient heat dissipation and the durability required for outdoor and professional use.
