The Fenix HP12R-T is a rechargeable head torch developed for trail running, hiking and other activities where both powerful lighting and a well-balanced fit matter. Its rear-mounted battery distributes the 199g total weight between the front and back of the head, helping the lamp remain stable and comfortable during prolonged movement. Independently controlled cool-white and neutral-white beams can be used separately or together, producing up to 1300 lumens with a maximum beam distance of 200 metres.

Balanced For Running And Active Use
Moving the 18650 battery to the back of the headband prevents the complete 199g weight from sitting above the forehead. This separation-style layout creates a more evenly balanced fit and reduces movement at the front, helping the HP12R-T remain comfortable and stable while running, hiking or working for extended periods.
Two White Beams For Changing Conditions
The 6500K cool-white light provides the strongest individual output and longest beam reach, making it well suited to faster movement and identifying the route further ahead. The softer 4000K neutral-white beam presents terrain with a more natural appearance and can make surface detail easier to distinguish in rain, fog, snow and other difficult conditions.
Each white beam has its own switch and brightness settings, allowing it to be used independently when the route only requires one type of light. Activating both beams together produces the full 1300-lumen combined output and a 200-metre beam, giving the wearer stronger forward illumination when conditions become more demanding.
Front And Rear Red Lighting
A constant red light at the front provides low-glare illumination for reading, checking equipment or working around other people while helping to preserve dark-adapted vision. The front SOS mode can be used to attract attention in an emergency.
The battery case has its own constant and flashing red outputs, improving the wearer’s visibility from behind on roads, paths and work sites. Because the rear light has a separate control, it can be operated without switching on the main white beams.
Replaceable High-Capacity Battery
The supplied Fenix ARB-L18-4000 is a removable 4000mAh 18650 rechargeable battery. A depleted battery can therefore be exchanged for a charged compatible battery during a long event or overnight activity instead of waiting for the head torch to recharge. Two CR123A non-rechargeable batteries can also be used as an alternative power source when required.
Battery compatibility: Do not use 16340 or RCR123 rechargeable batteries in the HP12R-T. Fenix recommends using a protected ARB-L18-series 18650 battery.
USB-C Charging And Battery Monitoring
The protected USB-C port is built into the rear battery case, allowing the supplied ARB-L18-4000 battery to be charged without removing it. A full charge takes approximately 3.5 hours with a suitable 5V/2.5A or higher charging adaptor, and the head torch can be operated while connected to a power source. Four indicators provide a clear view of the remaining battery level when the supplied battery is installed.
Simple Controls And Output Memory
Separate switches give direct control of the cool-white and neutral-white beams, avoiding the need to cycle through every lighting mode. The head torch remembers the last-used output within each mode and recalls it when that mode is selected again. Electronic and physical lockout protection help prevent accidental activation while the HP12R-T is being transported or stored.

The perforated headband helps release heat and moisture during energetic activity. Reflective detailing makes the wearer easier to notice when illuminated by another light source, while the detachable and washable design makes the headband easier to keep clean after running or prolonged outdoor use.
