Football Foundation Portable Floodlights Grant
Funding of up to £25,000 is available towards new or previously owned portable floodlights for eligible organisations where grassroots football is central to the offer.
- Available to eligible not-for-profit clubs, voluntary groups, charities, CICs, local authorities, County FAs and educational establishments offering community access.
- Portable lights can be used on artificial pitches and natural-turf training areas.
- The Foundation will not fund portable lights for grass pitches used for match play.
- You must explain the need, show that the training area can cope with extra use and provide evidence of secure on-site storage.
- For a football-club application, the applicant must be the chair, secretary or treasurer.

Rugby Union
The RFU provides a free grant-search service covering thousands of grants and other funding opportunities. Clubs should also speak to their RFU facilities contact or Constituent Body because regional and time-limited programmes change during the season.
Strong application angle: additional winter training, growth in women and girls' rugby, youth provision, disability rugby and making better use of existing grass space.

The RFL's Community Investment and Funding hub lists current support and fundraising guidance for community rugby league clubs. Programme rules vary, so confirm that portable lighting is an eligible cost before including it in an application.

England Hockey's facilities-funding page specifically recognises lighting upgrades as a type of project that may need funding. It points clubs towards Sport England, Active Partnerships, crowdfunding and developer contributions such as Section 106 or Community Infrastructure Levy funding.
Strong application angle: safe winter training, increased pitch capacity, junior and inclusive sessions and partnerships with a school or shared facility.

Sport England Movement Fund
Eligible organisations in England can seek between £300 and £15,000 as a grant or crowdfunding pledge. The strongest projects help people facing barriers to activity and can clearly show who will become active as a result.

National Lottery Awards For All
Country-specific Awards for All programmes offer £300 to £20,000 for eligible community-led projects lasting up to two years. A floodlight project needs to connect clearly to stronger communities, better shared spaces or helping more people reach their potential.
Landfill Communities Fund Grants
Biffa Award, FCC Communities Foundation and other environmental bodies support eligible community recreation projects near qualifying sites. Postcode, public-access and project-size rules are strict, so run the funder's eligibility checker before investing time in an application.

Check the current Department for Education guidance and your own trust or local-authority rules. Frame the project around sustainable improvements: more outdoor activity, extended seasonal use, safe extracurricular sport and measurable pupil participation.

PTA And Alumni Fundraising
Give the campaign a specific outcome, such as “fund four extra winter training nights each week”. Combine a sponsored event, online donations and a visible progress target. Alumni or former pupils can be approached as donors or introductions to local employers.
Lettings And Local Sponsorship
Future pitch or court hire can help form a business case, while a local business can sponsor equipment in return for appropriate recognition. Confirm the school's advertising, procurement and safeguarding policies before agreeing benefits.
Community Groups And Charities
A community-led project can be stronger than an equipment-led request. Show how portable lighting creates new activity and benefits groups who currently miss out.
