Three Light Sources For Changing Conditions
The cool-white beam provides the greatest output and longest reach, making it the natural choice for faster descents, open trails and spotting obstacles further ahead. Its four brightness levels allow the output to be reduced on climbs, slower sections and illuminated routes to extend the available run time.
The warm-white beam produces less glare and improves visibility in mist, fog and other conditions where a cooler beam can reflect back towards the wearer. It also gives nearby terrain a softer, more natural appearance, which can make roots, rocks and changes in the ground easier to interpret.
Constant red light provides discreet close-range illumination without affecting night-adjusted vision as strongly as white light. It is useful when checking maps, adjusting equipment or moving around a campsite, while sos provides an emergency signalling option.

Fenix’s two-way SPORT headband system uses a rotary dial for quick single-handed adjustment. The tension can be tightened or loosened while moving, helping the head torch remain secure without overtightening the band. Its perforated, sweat-channelled construction improves ventilation, and an integrated emergency whistle provides an additional means of attracting attention if assistance is needed.
Rechargeable Power With An AAA Backup
The HL18R-T V2.0 is supplied with a removable Fenix ARB-LP1900 1900mAh Li-poly battery, which charges inside the head torch through USB-C in approximately three hours. A compatible spare can be exchanged during longer events, while three readily available AAA alkaline or Ni-MH batteries provide a useful alternative when charging is not practical.
The head torch can operate on its low output while connected to a suitable power source. AAA batteries must not be charged inside the head torch, and 10440 Li-ion batteries must not be used.
Simple Control And Secure Transport
Separate top switches provide direct control of the cool-white and warm-white modes, with red light accessed by a double press. The intelligent memory recalls the last-used brightness within each mode, reducing the need to cycle through settings repeatedly. A dedicated sliding lock prevents accidental activation in a running vest, kit bag or pocket, while the 60-degree tilt mechanism directs the beam where it is needed.

The lightweight polycarbonate body is rated to IP66, providing protection against dust, heavy rain and splashing water. Battery-level indication shows the remaining charge when the supplied battery is fitted, and a low-voltage warning provides advance notice when it is time to recharge or replace the power source.
